Box Office Assistant Manager

Centaur Theatre seeks a full-time Box Office Assistant Manager for an anticipated start date of August 16. Hours include static evening and weekend shifts.

Working under the direction of the Box Office Manager.
Responsibilities include: supervising a team of up to 4 clerks; scheduling ; putting in shows; processing single ticket sales; subscriptions. Other responsibilities include accounting; training and related office tasks.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate:

• 2-3 years working in customer service;
• excellent computer skills;.
• previous successes in leadership roles, ideally in a sales environment
• an understanding of accounting practices, comfort with cash handling
• an aptitude for conflict resolution and decision making
• bilingualism

This position is best suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced work environment with constantly shifting demands and challenges. Must possess an entrepreneurial and upbeat attitude, as well as an ability to motivate employees and demonstrate solid leadership. Must be flexible, adaptable and possess excellent people skills.

Previous experience in a managerial role within a cultural or non-profit environment an asset. Previous ticketing sales experience is highly desirable.

Interim Technical Director

Centaur Theatre has an immediate opening for the position of Interim Technical Director for the 2010/2011 Season. Centaur Theatre Company is the premier English language theatre in Montreal, producing six productions each season, from a local, national and international repertoire.

Job responsibilities include:

• The safe implementation of all technical aspects of Centaur Theatre Company productions.

• The safe implementation and supervision of all technical aspects of rental events which take place in Centaur facilities and buildings.

• Forecasting materials and additional labour required for each production.

• Co-ordinating the operation of the Scene Shop and Centaur’s two performance spaces, in an efficient pattern of work throughout the season.

• Supervision of Head Technicians, and Call Technicians.

• Maintaining a balanced budget through accurate forecasting and tracking of expenses.

 

Skills required:

• 3 - 5 years experience as a Technical Director or equivalent.
• Ability to co-ordinate several projects at different stages of development.
• Ability to function as part of a team.
• Experience with Excel, Word, CADD and Audio Editing software.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Understanding of spoken and written French.
